Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Operations Management
• Direct and oversee all bromine production activities including brine pumping, acidification, chlorination, steaming-out, and condensation processes.
• Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans aligned with organizational targets and customer commitments.
• Monitor production KPIs including yield, capacity utilization, cycle time, and first-pass quality; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with the logistics and sales teams to ensure timely availability of finished bromine stock for dispatch.

2. Plant & Process Engineering Oversight
• Supervise process engineers and shift supervisors to ensure optimum process parameters are maintained across all production units.
• Lead process optimization projects to improve bromine recovery rates, reduce energy consumption, and minimize raw material loss.
• Review and approve process modifications, SOPs, and P&IDs; ensure documentation is current and accurately reflects plant operations.
• Provide technical guidance on plant troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

3. Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Compliance
• Champion a culture of safety-first across the production workforce, ensuring strict adherence to HAZOP, PSM, and MSDS protocols for bromine handling.
• Ensure compliance with Factories Act, PCB norms, REACH regulations, and all applicable environmental discharge standards.
• Oversee the maintenance of emergency response systems, including bromine leak detection, neutralization towers, and PPE availability.
• Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and drills; ensure incident reporting and investigation are completed per regulatory timelines.

4. Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance
• Collaborate with the QC/QA team to ensure bromine purity meets IS/international standards (≥99.5% purity) for all product grades.
• Maintain batch records, certificates of analysis (CoA), and production logs; support internal and third-party audits.
• Drive ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 compliance within the production function.

5. Team Leadership & People Development
• Lead a multi-disciplinary production team of 60–80 personnel including engineers, supervisors, operators, and contract workforce.
• Set individual and team performance objectives; conduct periodic performance reviews and facilitate skill development programs.
• Build a high-performance culture through mentoring, coaching, and structured succession planning for critical roles.
• Manage shift rosters, manpower planning, and workforce discipline in line with HR policies.

6. Maintenance & Asset Reliability
• Coordinate with the maintenance team on planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules, shutdowns, and turnarounds to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Monitor equipment health (compressors, heat exchangers, towers, pumps, HDPE pipelines) and escalate risks proactively.
• Evaluate capital expenditure proposals for plant upgrades, expansions, and debottlenecking initiatives.

7. Budgeting & Cost Control
• Prepare and manage the annual production budget; monitor actuals versus budget and implement cost-reduction measures.
• Optimize consumption of key inputs including chlorine, sulfuric acid, steam, and power to reduce cost of production.
• Evaluate vendor performance for critical production consumables and support procurement negotiations.

Educational Qualifications
• B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university (mandatory).
• M.E. / M.Tech or MBA in Operations / Manufacturing Management is desirable.
• Certifications in Process Safety Management (PSM), Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or NEBOSH are an added advantage.

Work Experience
• Minimum 18 years of progressive experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, with at least 10+ years in a senior production leadership role.
• Hands-on experience in bromine, chlorine, or broader halogen chemistry operations is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale continuous process plants and leading multi-shift production teams.
• Experience working in remote/industrial locations such as Kutch, Rajasthan, or similar chemical hubs is an advantage.

Technical Competencies
• Deep understanding of brine chemistry, bromine liberation processes, halogenation, and downstream bromine derivatives.
• Proficiency in process simulation tools, HAZOP studies, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Working knowledge of DCS/SCADA systems, process instrumentation, and industrial automation.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations, ETP/STP management, and chemical waste disposal norms.

• Decisive under pressure with strong problem-solving and crisis management capabilities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Production volume achievement vs. plan (monthly/quarterly).
• Bromine purity and product quality compliance rate.
• Plant availability and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
• Safety – TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) and near-miss reporting compliance.
• Cost of production per MT vs. budget.
• Workforce productivity, training hours, and attrition rate within team.
• Environmental compliance – effluent discharge limits and audit scores.
